Amelia Kate Thompson is a worship leader, musician, and singer-songwriter based out of Mandeville, Louisiana. From when she was in her early childhood years, she had already started singing in choirs and musicals, playing piano, and engaging in music every day. In her first year of high school, Amelia Kate created the High School Music Ministry, and began growing it to the point of leading worship in chapel every week for the rest of her four years at Christ Episcopal School. Amelia Kate graduated with her diploma from Christ Episcopal School, being one of the top in her class, and leaving with the “Leah Bell award,” an award dedicated “to the student representing a strong faith and appreciation for the arts” (Amy Clark, Principal of Christ Episcopal School.) Amelia Kate has played in multiple worship bands, such as volunteering in First Baptist Church’s praise team and First Baptist Church’s youth band, being a paid worship leader at Meadowbrook Baptist Church, a paid worship leader at Immanuel Baptist Church Morgan City, and a paid pianist and vocalist in the Jonathan Turner Band. Amelia Kate has had much experience with leading bands, organizing set lists, lead and background vocals, and playing keys in worship bands. Currently, Amelia Kate is a freshman at Samford University studying Commercial Music with an emphasis in Vocal Performance. With this major, she is studying all the in and outs of the music industry, studying voice at a professional level, and gaining a high level of choir and ensemble experience. She decided to study in this field to gain business knowledge in the music industry as well as take her vocal and musical study/training to the next level. At Samford University, she is in the Samford Worship Collective, as well as a Micah Fellow. The Samford Worship Collective is an audition-only entry level ensemble that leads worship at on and off campus worship events. This team is made up of students from every grade level, all using their musical abilities to praise the Lord and lead others in worship. The Micah Fellows program at Samford accepts only a few students per year through a lengthy application and interview process (15 members in Amelia Kate’s class), and is a program focused on Micah 6:8 “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” These students study healthy service according to the Bible and this verse in particular. While at Samford, Amelia Kate has accepted a Worship Leader Intern position at Meadowbrook Baptist Church, studying and working under the campus Worship Pastor, David Vaughan (a graduate of Samford University).
Compared to artists like Lizzy McAlpine, Maggie Rodgers, and Francesca Battistelli, Amelia Kate's sweet yet strong and passionate vocals eminate her love for God and transport you into a heart ready to worship the Lord. Her lyrics and musicianship are beautiful and powerful and leaving you wanting more.
